Philippe Rouillon - baritone back

In the current season French baritone Philippe Rouillon sings Méphisto in The Damnation of Faust in Tel-Aviv, Germont and Nabucco in Hamburg and Lelio (The Captain) in Berlin. In the Gewandhaus in Leipzig he can be heard as Gérard in Andrea Chénier, at Wiener Staatsoper in Les Contes d´Hoffmann and at Opéra-Bastille Paris in Lámour des trois oranges as Roi de Tréfle. Furthermore he performs Gunther in Wagner’s Götterdämmerung and Comte de Saint-Bris in Meyerbeer’s Les Huguenots at Opéra Royal de Wallonie in Liège.

Philippe Rouillon is guest on numerous well-known stages. In Vienna he embodied Golaud (Pelleas and Melisande), the high priest of Dagon (Samson and Delilah), Escamillo, Hérode (Hérodiade) and each of the four baritone-roles in Les Contes d´Hoffmann. In Paris he could be seen as Chorèbe (Les Troyens), Ruprecht (L´Ange de Feu), Orest (Elektra), Renato (Un Ballo in Maschera), High Priest (Alceste) and Thoas (Iphigenia in Tauris). At Nederlandse Opera Amsterdam he sang Ruprecht, the high priest of Dagon, Gellner (La Wally), Escamillo and Scarpia. Parts like Jochanaan (Salome), Guillaume Tell (title-role), Macbeth (title-role), Creon (Oedipus Rex), and Hérode (Hérodiade) brought him to Lisbon, Strasbourg and Liège. Philippe Rouillon also sang in London, Madrid, Utrecht, Zurich and Tel-Aviv.
In Italy he appeared in Les Contes d´Hoffmann at the Scala in Milan as well as in Sassari and Naples.
Philippe Rouillon often sings in Germany (Bonn, Cologne, Berlin, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Stuttgart and Dresden) and has guest-appearances in Bregenz, Salzburg, in Canada, the USA and South America regularly.
Philippe Rouillon´s enormous discography presents the artist in some of his most important roles.

Born in Paris, he attended studies in singing at “Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris” and later at “Ecole d´Art Lyrique de l´Opéra de Paris”. He was awarded the first Price in the category opera and the audience’s award during the international competition at Verviers as well as the first price for singing at the competition in Rio de Janeiro in 1983.
