Young soprano Talia Or continues to sing at the Bayerische Staatsoper München in the 2007/08 season. She reprises her role as the Child in a revival of Humperdinck’s Königskinder which won her acclaim as a lyrical master at the 2005 premiere. She also covers the lead role in Unsuk Chin’s Alice in Wonderland, which celebrated its world premiere at the 2007 Münchner Opernfestspiele. She debuts at the Teatro dell Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Bach’s Weihnachtsoratorium under the baton of Peter Schreier. This season she sings Valencienne (Lustige Witwe), Rosina (Barbier), Anna Reich (Lustige Weiber von Windsor) and Pamina (Zauberflöte) among other roles at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz. In the 2006/07 season Talia Or sang Voce del Cielo in Don Carlo under the baton of Paolo Carignani, Amour in Orphée et Eurydice conducted by Ivor Bolton and Young girl in Moses and Aaron under Lothar Zagrosek at the Bayerische Staatsoper Munich. She made numerous important role debuts at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, among them Anna Reich in a new production of Lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, and Pamina in Mozart’s Zauberflöte. She also reprised her role as Rosina in Barbier von Sevilla. Born in Jerusalem in 1977, Talia Or first began studying violin in 1985 before deciding to study singing at the Hamburger Hochschule für Musik und Drama in 1997. There, she won the Mozart-Competition as well as the Competition for sacred song and oratorio in 2002. In 2003 she appeared as Taumännchen in Hansel and Gretel and as Papagena in Zauberflöte at the Hamburgische Staatsoper. At La Monnaie Brussels she debuted in Nozze di Figaro in the course of the Young Artists Program. She performed Susanna (Nozze di Figaro), Despina (Cosi fan tutte) and Yniold (Pelléas et Mélisande) at the International Vocal Arts Institute Tel Aviv. In the 2003/04 season she became a member of the young ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper München and also sang at Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz as a guest performer. She has been a member of this ensemble since the 2004/05 season and appears in parts like Adele (Fledermaus), Blonde (Entführung aus dem Serail), Frasquita (Carmen) or Lauretta (Gianni Schicci). Talia Or’s concert repertoire includes the standard works of Bach, Handel and Mozart as well as rarely played works by Bernstein (Mass, performed under Ingo Metzmacher in Hamburg), Ravel (Sheherazade) or Franck (Les Béatitudes). Two CD-recordings featuring Talia Or are currently available. Both are dedicated to the work of the Beethoven-contemporary Simon Mayr.
