In summer
2009, the soprano Talia Or presented herself as Sacerdotessa in Aida under the baton of Carlo Rizzi at
Bregenz Festival, followed by an immediate re-invitation for summer 2010. The
present season furthermore sees her return as Adina (Elisir d’Amore) to Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Munich. In spring
2011, she will sing the role of Despina (Cosi
fan tutte) at Hamburg State Opera.
Highlights
of the season 2008/09 were her acclaimed role debut as Elizabeth Zimmer in
Henze’s Elegy for young lovers Teatro
Arriaga in Bilbao (Director: Pierre Luigi Pizzi), her debut as Adina at
Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Munich as well as the First Flower Maiden under
the baton of Lorin Maazel in a new production of Wagner’s Parsifal the the
Palau de les Arts Valencia. In June 2008, she gave her debut with Zubin Mehta,
who engaged her for the opening concert of the World-Exhibition in Saragossa (Mahler’s
Symphony N° 2) and for a tour through
Israel
with concerts in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem
and Haifa
(Bach-cantatas).
During the
season 2007/08 Talia Or could regularly be heard at Bayerische Staatsoper
Munich. In the revival series of Humperdinck’s Königskinder she sang the role of the Child again, for which she
was celebrated as extraordinary lyrical talent after the premiere in 2005.
Further more she covered the title-role in Unsuk Chin’s Alice in Wonderland. Under the baton of Peter Schreier she made her
debut at Teatro dell Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Bach’s Christmas–oratorio. At Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz she appeared
in roles such as Valencienne (Lusitge
Witwe), Rosina (Barbiere) Anna
Reich (Lustige Weiber von Widsor) and
Pamina (Zauberflöte).
In the
06/07 season Talia Or sang the Voce del Cielo in Don Carlo under the baton of Paolo Carignani, Armour in Orphée et Eurydice under the baton of
Ivor Bolton and the Young Girl in Moses
and Aaron under Lothar Zagrosek each at Bayerische Staatsoper Munich.
Born in
Jerusalem, Talia Or first began studying violin in 1985 before deciding
to study singing at the Hamburger Hochschule für Musik und Drama in 1997. There,
she won the Mozart-Competition as well as the Competition for sacred song and
oratorio in 2002. In 2003 she appeared as Taumännchen in Hansel and Gretel and as Papagena in Zauberflöte at the Hamburgische Staatsoper. At La Monnaie Brussels
she debuted in Nozze di Figaro in the
course of the Young Artists Program. She performed Susanna (Nozze di Figaro), Despina (Cosi fan tutte) and Yniold (Pelléas et Mélisande) at the International
Vocal Arts Institute Tel Aviv. In the 2003/04 season she became a member of the
young ensemble of the Bayerische Staatsoper München and also sang at Staatstheater
am Gärtnerplatz as a guest performer. She
has been a member of this ensemble since the 2004/05 season and appears in
parts like Adele (Fledermaus), Blonde
(Entführung aus dem Serail),
Frasquita (Carmen) or Lauretta (Gianni Schicci).
