Sabina Cvilak - soprano back

SLOVENIAN NATIONAL THEATRE MARIBOR / PAGLIACCI
Sabina Cvilak: exzeptionell singende Nedda.

WASHINGTON NATIONAL OPERA - US DEBUT
PUCCINI - LA BOHEME - MIMI (role debut)

Cast number two for La Boheme brings an entirely stronger, more coherent rendering of this Puccini favorite. Soprano Sabina Cvilak brings real pathos and presence to her Mimi and she is one of the best sopranos to grace the WNO in seasons.

Led by Slovenian soprano Sabina Cvilak and Mexican tenor Arturo Chacón-Cruz in the central roles of Mimi and Rodolfo, the artists moved fluidly through Mariusz Trelinski's production…. they showed great professionalism and integrity. Together, they radiated chemistry and sang with as much passion as refinement. They used every aspect of their artistry to bring out the opera's full beauty. Chacón-Cruz and Cvilak set the pace in the opening act with naturally phrased, idiomatic accounts of "Che gelida manina" and "Mi chiamano Mimi".
