In 2008/09 Miroslav Dvorsky sings the new productions of the Janacek-operas Katia Kabanova at the Teatro Real Madrid (Jiri Belohlavek/Robert Carsen) and Makropulos case at the Teatro alla Scala Milano (Marko Letonja/Luca Ronconi). He can be heard at the Semper Oper Dresden (La Boheme), National Theatre Prague (Bartered Bride) and at the Staatsoper Hamburg in Simone Boccanegra, Macbeth and the concert version of Attila under Simone Young. At the Den Norske Opera in Oslo he opens the season as Prince in Dvorak’s Rusalka.

 

Highlights of the 2008 Puccini-year were the invitation of the Teatro alla Scala Milano for the new production of Tabarro under Riccardo Chailly, a series of Madama Butterfly-performances in Dresden and a Puccini-Gala concert at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, where he already performed in 2007 and 2004.

 

In the previous seasons Miroslav Dvorsky appeared at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile (Butterfly), Palau de les Arts de Valencia (Carmen under Lorin Maazel), Royal Opera House Covent Garden (Butterfly), Opéra National de Paris (Rusalka), Wiener Staatsoper (Traviata, Nabucco & Simone Boccanegra), San Fran-cisco Opera (Tosca under Donald Runnicles), Teatro Comunale Bologna (Trovatore under Carlo Rizzi), Teatro Regio di Torino (Rusalka) and Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste (Butterfly under Daniel Oren). At the New National Theatre Tokyo and the Staatsoper Hamburg he made his role debuts as Don Carlo and Laca in Janacek’s Jenufa, as Laca he made his debut at the Teatro alla Scala Milano. Apart from that the artist performed repeatedly at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Cincinnati Opera, Canadian Opera Toronto, Teatro Carlo Felice Genova and Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

 

In 2007 he sang Verdi’s Messa da Requiem with the Orchestre de Paris under Christoph Eschenbach and at the MDR Musiksommer under Fabio Luisi and Dvorak’s Stabat Mater with the Bamberger Symphoniker. He gave concerts with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano (Riccardo Chailly), Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal (Charles Dutoit), Orchestre de Paris (Vladimir Fedoseyev) and at the Festspielhaus Salzburg, Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, Stefaniensaal Graz and with the Hessischer Rundfunk.

 

The artist has recorded CD’s for Supraphon, Opus, Naxos and Discover and in addition has collaborated on recordings with the ORF, the NDR and the Slovakian and Czech Broadcasting Services.

 

Miroslav Dvorsky studied singing at the Conservatory and then at the Academy of Music in Bratislava with Ida Cernecka, and at the Teatro alla Scala Milano with Luciano Silvestri. After winning several competitions, he became a member of the Slovakian National Theatre Bratislava. First engagements abroad took him to Munich, Stuttgart, Leipzig, Hannover, Düsseldorf, Zurich, Genève, Lucerne, Bern and Basel.
