Dalibor Jenis - baritone back

Dalibor Jenis begins the 2007/08 season as Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor in Oviedo, followed by the role of Renato in a new production of Ballo in Maschera at the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin (Jossi Wieler-Sergio Morabito / Philippe Jordan). He debuts at the Bayerische Staatsoper München in the title role of Eugen Onegin, which he subsequently also sings in Tokyo. He returns to the Staatsoper Hamburg as Germont in Traviata and performs Lescaut in Manon Lescaut at the Palermo Opera.
 
Dalibor Jenis is renowned as one of the best of Rossini’s Barbiere di Siviglia performing today. He has sung this role at the Festival von Pesaro under Daniele Gatti as well as the Wiener Staatsoper, the Opéra National de Paris, the Staatsoper Hamburg, the Auditorio Baluarte de Pamplona und the Michigan Opera Detroit.
 
Dalibor Jenis is a frequently invited guest performer at Wiener Staatsoper (Barbiere di Siviglia, Traviata, Lucia di Lammermoor), at Staatsoper Hamburg (Don Giovanni, Eugene Onegin, Barbiere di Siviglia, Bohčme, Pagliacci, Pique Dame, Traviata), at Deutsche Oper Berlin (Eugen Onegin, Manon Lescaut, Ballo in Maschera), at Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin (Don Carlo), at Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden (Butterfly), at Royal Opera Covent Garden London (Bohčme, Cosi fan tutte, Butterfly, Faust), at Opéra National de Paris (Barbiere di Siviglia, Pique Dame, Faust), at Grand Teatre del Liceu Barcelona (Butterfly), at Teatro Comunale di Bologna (Cosi fan tutte, Traviata), at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma (Onegin), at Teatro Regio Torino (Don Giovanni) and at American opera houses in Cincinnati (Barbiere, Faust) and San Diego (Lucia). At Teatro Colon Buenos Aires and at Teatro Real Madrid he was engaged for productions of Janacek’s Cunning little Vixen.
 
He sang Shuisky in concert-performances of Dvorak’s Dimitri under the baton of Richard Hickox at Wiener Konzerthaus and at Royal Albert Hall. At Kölner Philharmonie he performed concerts of Dvorak’s König und Köhler under Gerd Albrecht. In Tokyo, he sang Busoni’s Doktor Faust for the Japanese premiere, in Montpellier he appeared in concerts of Ponchielli’s Marion Delorme. He sang in the world-premiere of Offenbach’s romantic opera Les fees du Rhin at the Festival de Radio France, where he also appeared in concert-performances of Puccini’s Edgar together with Julia Varady. Appearing in a TV broadcast Gala on the occasion of the EU-entry of several Eastern European countries, the baritone won the acclaim of over one million viewers worldwide.
 
Dalibor Jenis appears on CD recording of Gianni Schicchi with Mirella Freni and Leo Nucci, on a concert recording of Cristoforo Colombo with Renato Bruson, a recording of Edgar with Julia Varady, Marion Delorme with Denia Mazzola, Die Rheinnixen under Friedemann Layer, as well as on a DVD of Barbiere di Siviglia from the Opera National de Paris.
 
Dalibor Jenis studied at the Bratislava Conservatory, during his studies he stayed in Italy for one year abroad at the Accademia Italiana in Osimo. He has been awarded several prizes in voice competitions; among them Karlsbad (“Antonín Dvorák”), Las Palmas (“Alfredo Kraus”) and in 1990 Vienna (“Belvedere”).
