2008 Kammersänger Andreas Scheibner sings Brahms’ German Requiem in Dresden and Bachs’ Christmas Oratorio under Peter Schreier in Sao Paolo. Before that he could be heard under Rafael Fruehbeck de Burgos in Beethoven 9th and with the Orchestre National de Lille in Haydn’s Creation. He opened the 2007/08 season in the premiere of d’Albert’s Tiefland at the Hessisches Staatstheater as Sebastiano, which he had already sung at the Maifestspiele Wiesbaden.
In previous seasons Andreas Scheibner sang in new productions at the Opéra de Lille (Wozzeck), Oper Bonn (Hindemith’s Cardillac), Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Bruxelles (Tristan und Isolde), New Israeli Opera (Wozzeck), the Schwetzinger Festspiele (world premiere of Adriana Hölszky’s Der gute Gott von Manhattan), the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden (Der gute Gott von Manhattan and Penderecki’s Die Teufel von Loudon), the Theater an der Wien (Ernest Bloch’s Macbeth), the Teatro Lirico Cagliari (Weber’s Euryanthe) the Opéra National de Paris (Die Fledermaus as well as the world premiere of Manoury’s opera K based on Kafka’s Der Prozess). He appeared in numerous concerts at the Grosses Festspielhaus Salzburg, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Philharmonie Köln, Victoria Hall Geneva, Accademia Santa Cecilia Roma, and Teatro Comunale Firenze and in Weimar, Zagreb, Trieste, Cagliari, Stavanger and Madrid and had an extensive South America-tour with the Dresdner Philharmonie.
Andreas Scheibner worked with New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, Houston Symphony, Czech Philharmonic, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Staats-kapelle Berlin, Münchner Philharmoniker, Gurzenich Orchestra Cologne, MDR Symphony Orchestra Leipzig, NDR Symphony Orchestra Hamburg, Duisburg Symphony, Neue Philharmonie Westfalen, Orchestre de la Suisse Romande Genève, Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège and de Strasbourg, Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Orchestra Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Orchestra RAI Torino, Radiotelevisione Italiana Milano and he has performed at the Wiener Musikverein, Salzburger Festspiele, Brucknerfest Linz, Beethovenfest Bonn, Granada Festival, BBC London and Suntory Hall Tokyo.
Andreas Scheibner has sung under the baton of renowned conductors such as Berio, Casadesus, Davies, Davis, Eschenbach, Ferro, Frühbeck, zu Guttenberg, Hager, Horvat, Karabchevsky, Kuhn, Luisi, Märkl, Metzmacher, Navarro, Ono, Perick, Schneider, Schreier, Sinopoli, Weil and Wildner and has made several guest appearances at the Wiener Staatsoper, Staatstheater Stuttgart, Oper Leipzig, Teatro La Fenice Venezia, Teatro Giuseppe Verdi Trieste and at the Opéra de Lyon. CD-recordings with Andreas Scheibner have been released by TELDEC Classics.
Andreas Scheibner was born in Dresden, became a soloist of the Dresdner Kreuzchor and studied at the Musikhochschule Dresden. Andreas Scheibner has been a soloist at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden since 1983. Due to his artistic merits, Andreas Scheibner was invested as "Kammersänger" by the Ministry of Culture.
